Thyme
Thymus sp.
Perennial. Evergreen. There are more than 400 species, all preferring full sun and light well-drained soil. Leaves dry or freeze well. Plant with Cabbage to repel cabbage worms and near fruit trees to bring bees for pollination. Cut Thyme down no more than one third just before winter.

Creeping Thyme (T. serpyllum) -Plant between cracks in paving. (Entrance)  
Garden Thyme referred to as Common, French or Summer Thyme (T. vulgaris) - 12-15". Erect, woody stems. Leaves are dark green or grey green and highly aromatic. Said to have been one of the herbs in the Manger and it is found in many creches at Christmas time. Used in cooking. (Entrance) 
Golden Lemon Thyme (T. citriodorus 'Aureus') - 6-12". Has green-and-yellow variegated leaves. More creeping growth than above and has lemon fragrance. (Entrance) 
Pink Chintz Thyme (T. praecox 'Pink Chintz') - Vigorous and aromatic. Low groundcover with very long blooming salmon-pink flowers. Summer. (Frame 4) 
Roseum Thyme (T. praecix 'Roseum') - Dark green mats of tiny leaves with pink flowers. (Frame 4), (Entrance)  
Silver Thyme (T. x citriodorus 'Argenteus') 10". White edged leaves (Entrance)  
Wooly Thyme (T. lanuginosus) - Fuzzy blue-grey foliage. Rapid spreader. Avoid shade from other plants and do not mulch in winter to avoid rot. (Frame 4), (Entrance)
