Geranium "jer-ray'nee-um" Cranesbill Sun, part shade. Not to be confused with annual Geranium (Pelargonium). These varieties have single, five- petalled flowers and small palmately-lobed leaves. Prefer well-drained garden soil. Taller varieties for borders. Sweet cut flowers. Lower varieties for rock gardens.

'Brookside' - 20-24" tall. Blue flowers with white eyes. Long blooming. Green foliage. In fall the leaves turn red orange. Early summer to early fall. (Frame 5) grandiflorum 'Johnson's Blue' -12-24". Sun or part shade. Use as a mass. (Frame 5) pratense 'Midnight Reiter' - Finely cut purple leaves form a striking complement to dark lilac flowers. Summer bloomer. 'Rozanne' - 18-20". 2 1/2" violet-blue saucer shaped flowers over mounds of deep green marbled chartreuse foliage. June-Oct. (Frame 4) sanguineum 'John Elsley' - 10-12". Prostrate carmine flowers with darker veins, deeply lobed foliage. Long blooming, drought tolerant. sanguineum 'Purple Flame' - 12-15". One of the best purple cultivars. Blooms June-July, then sporadically. 'Perfect Storm' - 12". Small magenta pink blossoms have dark purple eye and veins. Flowers over velvety grey-green foliage from late spring to late summer.
