"a-kwee-lee'je-a" Columbine
Clumps of green or grey-green, ferny leaves. Graceful flowers with spurs of varying length. Blooming begins in May and can be prolonged by pinching off spent flowers. Sun or light shade. (Frame 4)

alpina - Violet-blue flowers on 20" stems. May - June.
caerulea 'Kristall' - Pure white flowers with long spurs bloom on a 24-30" stems through spring.
canadensis 'Corbett' - This native variety has pale yellow long spurred flowers on 18-24" stems in late spring.
canadensis 'Red Hobbit' - Carmine red flowers with white corollas. Dwarf form with compact habit.12-15" tall.
flabellata 'Cameo Blue-White' - Dwarf variety reaches 6". Bi-color blooms appear late spring/ early summer.
hybrida 'Maxi' - Long Spurred yellow flowers in late spring. On 3' stalks.
vulgaris 'Grandmothers Garden' - 30-36" stems bear old rose, violet and red flowers in late Spring. Antique form.
x hybrida 'Koralle' - 30-36". Coral pink spurs, with yellow corollas. May-July.
x hybrida 'McKana Giant Hybrids' - 30-36". Mix. Large, showy flowers. Long spurs.
